SMS Encryption Methodology
SecureSMS™ offers a safe and secure mobile communication solution utilizing a secure gateway platform with advanced SMS Encryption Micro Client technology.
In contrast to mono-key encryption methods, SecureSMS™ utilizes AES technology. Meaning each mobile divice has a designated SMS encryption key. Decryption is constricted to the designated device. Encryption keys are generated, constantly changed and never kept on the mobile device. SecureSMS™ messages are stored in an encrypted SMS database with an expiration option and complete data erase feature protecting the data against unauthorized access.
What is SMS Advanced Encryption Standard (SMSAES)?
The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) specifies a FIPS-approved cryptographic algorithm that can be used to keep critical electronic data private.
The AES algorithm is a symmetric block cipher that can encrypt and decrypt the message. SMS Encryption transforms data to an uncomprehensilbe form called ciphertext; decrypting the ciphertext transforms the data back into its original form, or plain text. AES is one of the most favored algorithms used in symmetric key cryptography.
Conventional SMS Challenges
Traditional SMS technology is not secure. It can be intercepted along the transmission path at multiple points especially when using HTTP (the web) to submit your messages. Depending on the mobile carrier, messages more than 160 characters are broken down into multiple messages that can be delivered out of sequence and may cause confusion and miscommunication. Traditional SMS is usually presumed delivered as soon as the carrier submits the message without having any confirmation from the recipient's mobile device. So there is no exact way to determine if a message was received by the recipient or whether it was opened or perhaps just deleted. Standard SMS does not provide timing around any of these events.
Secure Encryption SMS is available to make sure this never occurs again.
